The Actor Headshot Blueprint
By Amber Bohac
Actors spend so much time worrying about whether a headshot looks “good” that they forget the real question:
Does it work?
A strong headshot is not just a beautiful photo. It is a marketing tool. It should tell casting, agents, managers, and producers exactly where to place you in the market. In one glance, they should understand your essence, your type, your energy, and the kinds of roles you can book right now.
The best headshots do not try to turn you into someone else. They look like you on your best day. They are polished, clear, specific, and castable. They make you look like someone who could walk into the audition room tomorrow, step onto set, and do the job.
That does not mean every shot should be bright and smiling. Some actors need more grounded, dramatic, edgy, soulful, or specific images depending on the lane they play. A survivor, victim, post-apocalyptic, troubled teen, detective, or emotionally weighted dramatic role may require a very different energy than a bright commercial best friend. But even then, the image should still feel truthful. Specific does not mean costume. It means intentional.
This course is designed to help actors stop guessing and start making strategic choices. You will learn how to choose the right looks, the right colors, the right wardrobe, the right expressions, and the right overall vibe so your headshots actually sell you.
Because great headshots are not random.
They are built.
